Kings Canyon liegt bloss etwa 100km noerdlich vom Uluru, da aber ein riesiger Salzsee dazwischen liegt fahren wir drei mal so lang. Der Canyon besteht aus riesigen Schluchten, geschichtetem roten Gestein und einer Oase, dem "Garten Eden" wo Libellen und andere Insekten uebers Wasser schweben. Der Canyon bildete sich vor langer Zeit und ist schlussendlich nichts anderes als gepresster Sand. Man kann teilweise sogar noch dieWellen des Meers im Sand wieder erkennen die damals ueber Australien rauschten.
Vom Canyon aus hat man Ausblick ueber die Weiten im Hintergrung, einfach unvorstellbar. Wir wandern in 4.5h rund um den Canyon und treffen auf viele Lizards beim Sonnenbaden und ein "Blood Trees". Die Baeume sind weiss wie Papier, die Blutrote Fluessigkeit die rauslauft wird von den Aborigines als Medizin verwendet.
Kings Canyon is just about 100km north of Uluru but since there's this slat flat in between we make a detour of threefold this distance. The Canyon consists out of deep gaps and gorges, layered red stone and an oasis called "Garden Eden" where dragon flies and other insects hover over the calm waters. The canyon was formed a long time ago and is basically nothing else than pressed sand. One can even find the waves in the sand stone produces by the sea which, once upon a time, floated over this area.
We enjoy the wonderful views over the wide plains from the top of the canyon, unimaginable. We walked about 4.5 hours around the whole thing and came across many Lizards and "Blood Trees" which are white as paper. The blood red juice is used by the Aborigines as a medicine.
