Wir machten bei Lake Tekapo Halt auf dem Weg nach Christchruch. Inmitten weiter Landschaften, ohne eine Menschenseele liegt der See. Sein Wasser enthaelt feinste Partikel aus Steinmehl was ihm die ungewoehnliche mattte, hell blaue Farbe verleiht. Von weitem erkennt man den Mount Cook welcher nicht unweit vom Franz Josef Gletscher steht. Weil ausser dem kleinen Doerfchen am See niemand dort lebt und es deshalb in der Nacht schoen dunkel wird gibt es auch noch eine Sternwarte.
Der Wind pfeifte uns um die Ohren. Wir fanden einen gemuetlichen Plazt am See zum uebernachetn.
We made a halt at lake Tekapo on our way to Christchurch. We drove through the wide emptyness, full of green hills, without anyone living there. The lakes water contains fine stone particles which are cause for the dim, light blue color. Far off one can also see Mt. Cook which is located closely to the Franz Josef glacier. Because no one else, despite the people that live in the small village next to the lake, is there, the night sky is very dark and therefore, a little observatory exists on the hill next by.
Heavy wind blew us right in the face. We found a a cosy place to stay just at the lake.
